13/12 - TEACHING TO YOUNG LEARNERS

Hi! In this class, we started with presentations on topics related to "Teaching to Young Learners." The first presentation was on "Teaching Young Learners", in which our classmates conducted activities such as a dance with the Doraemon song, a Shinchan comic, and finally, a Kahoot about the comic.

Regarding "Listen and Do", classmates engaged in activities where, as the title suggests, students had to listen to perform various tasks. They described an image so that their partners could draw it following their instructions, played a charades game, and participated in a twister game. Through these activities, students are learning in a meaningful way.

In the "Listen and Make" presentation, our classmates conducted activities related to origami, providing instructions that the rest of us had to follow. These activities involved individual work, which is beneficial, but they were somewhat challenging for the children, as they seemed difficult even for us, who are older.

As for "Speaking with Support", activities included having children identify images on flashcards, dressing up a bear with the clothes mentioned by the teacher, and guessing the animal each person had. While these activities seemed good, I found the teacher's role as a support to be somewhat repetitive instead of enhancing their learning.

Finally, in the presentation by my group and me on "Speaking More Freely", we conducted activities to help students improve their speaking skills. Our activities were adapted to the children's minds, using led activities and engaging games to create an effective language learning experience. We conducted activities such as the broken telephone game, continuing a gossip, and conducting an interview. All our activities were related to gossip, in reference to our group name, "Gossips Girls". Therefore, my classmates and I dressed up as old women to carry out the activities in the classroom. You can't imagine how much we laughed and how much fun we had! Let's see if you recognize who I am!
